Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Fremont Optometric Group a proud provider of vision care products and services in Fremont.



Dr. Brian Gin

Dr. Brian Gin grew up in Fremont, California and graduated from Mission San Jose High School in 1998.  He completed his bachelor’s degree in Animal Physiology and Neuroscience at the University of California, San Diego in 2002.  In 2006, he received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of California, Berkeley.  Brian is the son of retired senior partner, Dr. Victor Gin, and has been practicing with Fremont Optometric Group since he graduated.  Dr. Gin enjoys educating patients about myopia control options including CRT lenses, multifocal daily soft lenses and low-dose atropine therapy.  He has also devised a tier based dry eye protocol to address the growing dry eye issues we face in this digital age.  This includes home-based and in-office-based treatment options that Dr. Gin will be happy to share to help alleviate your dry eyes.

He currently lives in Fremont and is married to his optometry classmate, Dr. Sara Chiu.  They have a labradoodle, Arlo, and two boys.  He enjoys snowboarding, pickleball, indoor climbing and PC gaming.


Dr. Clifford Leong

Dr. Clifford Leong, a native of the San Francisco Peninsula, holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from the University of California, San Diego, and a Doctorate of Optometry from the State University of New York College of Optometry in New York City.

After completing his optometry education, Dr. Leong pursued a post-graduate research fellowship in Cornea and Contact Lenses at the State University of New York College of Optometry.  During this time, he published a paper on orthokeratology, instructed contact lens labs for optometry students, and delivered lectures on specialty contact lenses.  He further honed his expertise by working with a distinguished eye surgeon in New York, providing pre and post-operative care for refractive surgery patients and fitting specialized contact lenses for challenging cases.

Currently, Dr. Leong balances his professional commitments with family life, enjoying weekends with his wife, two sons and dog.  In his leisure time, he indulges in cooking, traveling, playing basketball, snowboarding, and passionately supporting the Giants, 49ers, and Warriors.


Dr. Cindy Sakihara

Dr. Cindy Sakihara has been an associate Optometrist at Fremont Optometric Group since 1993. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of California at Berkeley and her Doctor of Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry, now Marshall B. Ketchum University. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the California Optometric Association. Along with Primary Care, Dr. Sakihara enjoys working with contact lens patients, and works with local Ophthalmologists to comanage refractive surgery, cataract, and glaucoma patients.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and helping at the local school, church, and sports programs her children are involved in.


Dr. Clarissa Sin

Dr. Clarissa Sin was born in San Francisco, but grew up in Union City.  She earned her undergraduate education from the University of California at Davis in Genetics and Economics.  She went on to complete her doctorate at the State University of New York’s School of Optometry in 2009.  Dr. Sin is licensed to treat many eye conditions including glaucoma, dry eyes, corneal reshaping, and surgery co-management.  She enjoys working with patients of every age and has developed a fondness for pediatric eye care and myopia management.  She practices all aspects of primary care optometry including dry eyes management, infections, LASIK co-management, and myopia control specialty lenses.

Beyond the workplace, she finds pleasure in cooking and quality time with her loved ones, which includes her husband, young son, and pet fish.  When the weather is favorable, she often visits the Oakland Zoo with her family.


Dr. Tracy Salgado

Dr. Tracy Salgado was born in San Jose, but grew up in Tracy, CA.  She completed her undergraduate studies in Integrative Biology at University of California, Berkeley and then received her Doctor of Optometry degree from UC Berkeley School of Optometry.  During her clinical training, Dr. Salgado rotated through advanced contact lens clinic, geriatric care and school vision screenings.  She loves to work with the pediatric population and is committed to providing comprehensive patient care.  Prior to graduation, she worked at Fremont Optometric Group as an optometric intern/assistant and she is proud to return as an associate optometrist.

Outside of the office, she enjoys cooking and spending time with friends and family, including her husband, two young children and Pomeranian-mix dog.  She is usually watching Marvel movies, Warriors basketball games or Cocomelon.


 

Dr. Deborah Chew (Retired 1/1/2021)

Dr. Deborah Chew was born in San Francisco and grew up in Oakland. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree, as well her Doctorate of Optometry, from U.C. Berkeley.  After graduating with honors, she served as an Associate Clinical Professor at the University Of California School Of Optometry for 5 years before settling down and starting a family.  She also worked for a prominent eye surgeon in the area where she provided the pre- and post operative care of cataract and refractive surgery patients and fitted specialized contact lenses for hard- to- fit eyes.  Dr. Chew enjoys seeing all types of patients but specializes in contact lenses. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association, and served on the board of directors for the Alameda-Contra Costa Optometric Society and the Bay Area Optometric Association for 7 years.  Dr. Chew is married to Orson Leong, a dentist who also practices in the bay area, and has 2 sons.  In her spare time, Dr. Chew likes to travel, cook, play golf, and shop.
